The 19th Forum on the Collaborative Reference Database Project

The Collaborative Reference Database (CRD) is a tool for providing reference services at the National Diet Library, Japan (NDL), that is currently being developed in collaboration with libraries throughout Japan. At present, the database comprises about 158,000 queries that were submitted to reference librarians throughout Japan and which, together with their answers, are available to be browsed by the general public.
For details, please visit: https://crd.ndl.go.jp/en/library/index.html

The subject of this year’s Forum on the CRD Project will be “How to improve your reference skills: To become a research expert” and the forum will be held with the theme of how to improve the skills of librarians involved in reference work.

The Forum will open with a speech by Ms. KITA Aoi, director of the Intelligent Production Planning Division at ZUNO Co., Ltd., who will speak about her unique research methods and how to utilize libraries as a researcher. Afterwards, some libraries that participate in the CRD project that are implementing unique initiatives in areas such as staff training will report on the status of reference work and efforts to improve services.

We hope that this forum will provide an opportunity for you to think about how to improve the skills necessary for reference work, and how each library can share know-how as an organization.

This forum will be held online and entirely in the Japanese language.
Anyone who is interested in the CRD or the subject matter of this Forum is welcome to participate.
